Custodio ahead in congressional race vs Pacquiao

Reelectionist Representative Darlene Antonino-Custodio has received 14, 060 votes while boxing champ Manny Pacquiao has 6, 790 votes in the congressional race in the first district of South Cotabato, based on partial and unofficial results from the AMA Quick Count.

City election officer Atty. Jose Villanueva said the voting has been generally peaceful, though he admitted that voter turnout has been low. This is according to a TV report from GMA News.

While Villanueva did not give specific figures, he estimated the turnout at less than 60 percent.

The delay in canvassing was caused by the poll watchers of candidates questioning some election returns, such as missing thumb marks.

In order not to delay the proceedings, the board stated they would continue canvassing and note down the points raised by the poll watchers.
